Littleton began as the home of Richard Little in 1860. A civil engineer from New Hampshire, he established a farm and the Rough and Ready Flour Mill. A village sprang up around the mill, encouraging Little to plat his town in 1872. Littleton was a milling, beekeeping and pickle capitol of Colorado at various times during the 19th Century. It was incorporated on Mach 8, 1890, and is currently governed by a Council/Manager form of government.
