Littleton began as the home of Richard Little in 1860. A civil engineer from New Hampshire, he established a farm and the Rough and Ready Flour Mill. A village sprang up around the mill, encouraging Little to plat his town in 1872. Littleton was a milling, beekeeping and pickle capitol of Colorado at various times during the 19th Century. It was incorporated on Mach 8, 1890, and is currently governed by a Council/Manager form of government.

*       Downtown Littleton placed on the National Reigster of Historic Places in 1998.

*       Littleton's 668-acre South Plkatte Park is one of the largest suburban parks in the U.S.

*       RTD's Southwest Light Rail has two stops in Littleton, downtown and at Mineral & Santa Fe.

*       Littleton Citizens pay only 6.662 mills in property tax, or an estimated $2.5 million
        annually.  This translates to about $57  per capita pre year. The mill levy has increased since 1991.
